Does tastytrade have automated trading?
Not as a built-in feature. tastytrade publishes an API with OAuth sign-in and a sandbox environment, and automation on a tastytrade account means connecting something to that API. The broker provides the door. Someone else provides the bot.
That leaves a trader with three kinds of tastytrade automated trading to choose from, and the right one depends on what the trader already has.
The three kinds of automation on a tastytrade account
Alert relays. A charting platform fires an alert, a relay service catches it, and an order goes to the broker. This suits a trader who already has a signal and only wants it executed without clicking.
Code platforms and SDKs. A programmer writes the strategy, the risk rules, and the order handling, then runs it against the API. Everything is possible and nothing is included.
Purpose-built software. The strategy, the risk layer, the dashboard, and the broker integration arrive together. The trader configures and supervises rather than builds. ACondor is in this group: an automated options trading bot for tastytrade accounts that sells premium by fixed rules.
What ACondor does
Four engines decide entries. The mechanical engine is an iron condor trading bot at heart: it enters when implied volatility rank is high, picks strikes by delta, and manages each position on a 45 to 21 day cycle. The earnings engine trades the volatility crush that follows a report. The volatility contraction engine waits for a spike to start fading. The directional engine, off by default, enters only on a strong bias.
A risk layer sits over all four and runs before any engine does. A VIX kill switch halts new entries for the rest of the session. Scheduled halt windows cover Federal Reserve and inflation releases. An intraday halt responds to a sharp drop in the S&P 500 or a jump in the VIX. Daily and weekly loss circuit breakers stop new entries once realized losses reach a limit. A per-trade risk cap skips any candidate that would exceed it, an allocation cap limits how much of the account is deployed, and a beta-weighted delta band keeps the book from leaning too far one way. Existing positions keep running their own exit rules even when new entries are halted.
In IRA and cash accounts the bot restricts itself to defined-risk spreads automatically. It never holds trading capital. It signs in with an OAuth token the account holder generates and can revoke at the broker, and it never receives a tastytrade password or two-factor code.
How early access works
ACondor is opening a few traders at a time. The founder, Robin Lilly, has run the software on a personal tastytrade account since July 2026 and onboards each batch personally: hands-on setup, a direct line while the bot runs, and a pause between batches to fix what the previous batch found before the next one starts. The company calls the software early and expects rough edges.
The form at the ACondor early access page asks for an email address and whether the applicant already has a tastytrade account. A name is optional.
What a participant needs
A tastytrade account. Margin is preferred because it unlocks every structure the engines trade. IRA and cash accounts work with the defined-risk restriction above.
An Anthropic API key. Claude does two jobs inside ACondor. It reads news headlines and flags any that threaten an open position, and it powers the chat panel in the dashboard, where it can read positions and change settings on request. A strong news label can also set the bias the directional engine needs before it enters. Claude never sizes a trade, places an order, or overrides a risk gate. Usage runs to pennies a day and Anthropic bills it directly, separate from the subscription.
Options knowledge. ACondor is not for beginners. It assumes a trader already understands short premium, assignment and early exercise, buying power reduction, and the difference between defined and undefined risk. Automating a strategy the trader cannot evaluate means never noticing when it misbehaves.
Pricing and terms
One flat monthly subscription. No per-trade fees, no percentage of account growth. The number is not public yet; the early access list hears it first, and alpha participants get favorable terms. First-time subscribers can request a full refund of the first payment within 30 days, covering the subscription fee only. Each subscriber gets dedicated hosting: a separate engine, database, and app service running against that subscriber’s own account. Broker commissions and Anthropic usage are billed outside the subscription.
Before connecting real money
The company recommends every new user run the software in the tastytrade sandbox first. The full system runs there against simulated orders, no real money moves, and most configuration questions surface in the first few sessions. Accounts of roughly 35,000 dollars fit the default sizing of a 700 dollar risk cap and 2 percent of net liquidating value per position. Smaller accounts work with a lower cap.
ACondor is software, not investment advice. Nothing here is a guarantee of any trading result, and options trading carries substantial risk of loss.
