MathWorks, the leading developer of mathematical computing software for designing engineered systems, today announced MATLAB EXPO Online 2026, a free two-day virtual event taking place Nov. 4-5, 2026. The event connects engineers, scientists, educators, and researchers with experts from Lockheed Martin Space, Microsoft, Intel, CIMdata, and MathWorks through keynotes, technical presentations, customer sessions, and hands-on learning. Engineers and decision-makers can register at MATLAB EXPO Online 2026.
Attendees will explore how engineers apply agentic AI, digital engineering, Model-Based Design, cloud technologies, electrification, and autonomous systems to develop and validate complex engineered systems. More than 40 sessions and live hands-on workshops will provide technical insights into AI-assisted engineering, system validation, wireless networks, space mission analysis, package management, control design, and MATLAB and Python workflows.
In his keynote, “From AI Assistants to Engineering Agents,” CIMdata Executive Consultant and AI Practice Director Diego Tamburini draws on CIMdata’s 2026 research on AI adoption in product development to examine the organizational and technical challenges shaping AI adoption in engineering. The presentation examines why trust and governance remain critical barriers to enterprise adoption, how engineering agents increase the need for verification and validation, and why organizations that already work with executable, physics-based models are better positioned to evaluate AI-generated results.
“The biggest obstacle to AI adoption in engineering is not the technology. It’s organizational trust,” said Tamburini. “As engineering agents take on more complex tasks, the need for validation increases. Organizations that already rely on executable, physics-based models are better positioned because they have many of the verification and traceability practices needed to evaluate AI-generated results.”

Additional keynote presentations from MathWorks will examine how engineers can apply AI and Model-Based Design throughout the development process. Jason Ghidella, senior principal technologist at MathWorks, will demonstrate how MATLAB, Simulink, and agentic AI can support engineering workflows from early prototyping and system modeling through requirements management, testing, and system validation. In a second keynote, María Elena Gavilán Alfonso, principal product marketing manager, and Maggie Oltarzewski, Simulink product marketer, will showcase new MATLAB and Simulink capabilities for working with larger data sets and models, verification, validation, and deployment. Their presentation will also explore AI-enabled engineering workflows and approaches for evaluating AI-generated results across applications including aerospace, wireless communications, and RF engineering.
Attendees will hear how engineering teams are applying AI, digital engineering, and Model-Based Design in practice across industries from Lockheed Martin Space, Microsoft, Intel, Northrop Grumman, Eaton, Eversource Energy, Tata Consultancy Services, and leading universities. Databricks, Ansys, and STMicroelectronics will provide additional perspectives on AI-driven development, battery-system engineering, and deploying production-ready algorithms on embedded hardware.
Live 90-minute workshops provide hands-on learning in areas including agentic AI, 5G simulation, control design, space mission modeling, and MATLAB and Python workflows.
MATLAB EXPO Online 2026 is free to attend. To register, go to MATLAB EXPO Online 2026.
